About us

The Silver Dragon finds its origins in 1926 when it was assigned to the 3rd Night Observation Squadron.

Disbanded in 1940, the Silver Dragon lost its home until it was re-assigned in 1949 to the 10th Night Fighter Squadron, flying the DeHavilland Mosquito XXX out of the 1st Fighter Wing in Beauvechain. In 1952, the Squadron transitioned to the Gloster Meteor NF-XI until 1957 when it has been disbanded.

The 10th Squadron has been re-activated in January 2025 as the first F-35 Operations Support Squadron.

Our mission

Re-activated as an Operations Support Squadron, our mission is to provide advanced and integrated support services to the F-35 flying squadrons of the 2nd Tactical Wing in Florennes.

This support includes standardisation and guidances, planning, academics, and advanced simulator training.

With our moto meaning "Support to excellence", our goal is to make sure that the 2nd Wing F-35 pilots become and remain trustworthy assets to our allies and fulfill the mission they have been assigned by Belgian Defense.
